In 1962, the Margret and Hubert Widauer family decided to convert their house into a small and cozy bed and breakfast.
As early as June 1963, Margret Widauer rented out 12 guest beds. In 1964, a further three rooms were added to the house. Our first major renovation began in 1965, which we were able to complete in 1966. We then counted around 70 guest beds in the house.
In 1973, minor changes were made to the house during the expansion. In 1980, what was probably the coziest room in the whole house was built — our popular pine room. In 1986, balconies were added to the upper floor and front wing.
Ten years later, in autumn 1996, we began to build our rustic and cozy Eggerer Alm in the garden. A real project of the heart.
In spring 1997, the house bar was rebuilt and modernized. In November 2000, one of the three rooms was converted into a reception and a new entrance area was created.
The Margret breakfast hotel was officially handed over to Manfred and Gaby Widauer in 2002. The rooms have been constantly renovated over the last few years. Many rooms were enlarged and converted into comfort rooms or apartments, for example. This was followed by renovation work on the hotel lobby and the expansion of the breakfast room.
In spring, our reception was expanded and an elevator was installed. Not only aesthetic but also practical considerations led to this, and so all rooms are now pleasantly barrier-free, ensuring the comfort and accessibility of our hotel for all guests.
Sarah, daughter of the house, returned in 2022 with many gastronomic experiences — full of zest for action and ready to set new impetus in her parents' business.
Her husband Joe joined in 2023. Together with Gaby and Manfred, they now work in the company founded by their grandparents and continue it with new freshness and innovations without losing sight of the essentials: providing guests with wonderful holidays. The next generation, Aleah and Liam, are also already showing their commitment to the family business by eagerly supporting parents during the holidays.
